- Target Sentence
- VPS4B (vacuolar protein sorting 4 homolog B) belongs to the AAA (adenosine triphosphatases associated with diverse cellular activities) family. It is involved in the multivesicular body (MVB) pathway which is important for cell surface receptor down-regulation and viral budding from host cells. VSP4B plays a role in the disassembly of ESCRTs (endosomal sorting complexes required for transport) on the endosomal membrane during sorting of cargo molecules in the MVB pathway. The mouse paralog of VPS4B is Skd1 (suppressor of K+ transport defect1) and the yeast paralog is Vps4.
